In quantum technology for example, frequency combs enable coherent control of cold neutral atoms or ions while synchronization and frequency control solutions support developments in atomic clock research and high temperature superconductors. The company is headquartered in Europe, with a newly created US Sales and Service hub in the Boulder, Colorado area. This position will play an integral role in supporting our client’s growing customer footprint across the most prestigious US labs and leading commercial customers.

Essential Job Functions: (include the following, but are not limited to:)

  • Install and commission complex laser systems at customer sites across the US and Canada
  • Plan, organize and implement on-site visits to selected customers for technical support, installation, service and training within the US. Perform repairs as needed at customer site or in local office
  • Strengthen existing customer accounts and network by providing excellent support in academia and industry
  • Work closely with engineering, production, product management and sales teams in the US and Europe to interpret customer requirements and to offer customized technical solutions
  • Coordinate activities with other sales and service team members as needed
  • Serve as primary point of contact for pre and post sales technical questions from customers at leading research institutes & high-tech companies
  • Travel requirements: up to 40% in the US, plus occasional international travel to our headquarters in Europe

Qualifications Experience:

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in relevant industries such as photonics, lasers, optics, spectroscopy, etc.
  • Experience performing measurements with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, multimeters, etc.

Education: MS or PhD preferred. Physics, EE, Optics/Photonics or related.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with ultrafast/fiber lasers, optical frequency combs, THz, ultrafast spectroscopy, ultrastable lasers, or laser locking required
  • Testing and troubleshooting of lasers and electronics including basic optical alignments
  • Strong willingness to be a hands-on service professional in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated experience in technical support is preferred
  • Strong willingness to be an independent self-starter in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making skills
