Overview:

We are seeking an ambitious and results-oriented Business Development Manager to spearhead sales growth in targeted market segments. In this pivotal role, you will combine your technical acumen with strategic insight to expand our market presence, forge strong customer relationships, and unlock new revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Market Leadership: Collaborate with company stakeholders to set revenue goals and craft strategic plans to drive sustainable growth and market penetration.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with existing clients while identifying new opportunities to expand our reach, guiding prospects from introduction to successful sales.
  • Technical Sales Expertise: Provide technical sales support by preparing competitive proposals in partnership with the Sales Manager for both domestic and international accounts.
  • Channel Partner Development: Train and support International Channel Partners and Independent Representatives to maximize success within assigned regions.
  • Market Opportunity Analysis: Work closely with the Sales Team to uncover and evaluate opportunities in emerging and established markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Value Engineering Solutions: Deliver customer-focused value engineering services, aligning our technical capabilities with client-specific requirements to create tailored solutions.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at trade shows, technical conferences, and industry meetings, showcasing our expertise and strengthening our market presence.
  • Forecasting & Analytics: Develop and manage detailed annual and monthly sales forecasts, analyze sales and customer data, and adapt strategies to stay ahead of market trends.
  • Budget Management: Partner with leadership to manage the business development budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively for maximum impact.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry developments by enhancing your technical knowledge through field contacts, professional organizations, and ongoing education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical sales or marketing, preferably within the optics, engineering, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong familiarity with optical engineering concepts, materials, and applications is a major plus.
  • Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in government and defense contracting is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards, ITAR, CMMC, DFARS regulations, and ERP systems preferred.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~50%) to connect with clients, partners, and industry professionals.
